What if Bush & Company are called to The Hague for War Crimes?
Rather, WHEN not IF. In my opinion it is only a matter of time before George Bush, Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzales, John Ashcroft, Doug Feith, Paul Wolfowitz, George Tenet, and many others will be charged with credible and substantiated war crimes. It is a sad predicament and our shame that America has bloodied its reputation with state-ordered and state-sponsored kidnapping, torture, and secret prisons during the past eight years at the direction of George Bush and his Administration.
America is better than this.
It will be a defining moment for America when we are faced with the choice of turning George Bush and company over for trial or shielding them from the international tribunal. From what I have read and watched, I have no doubt that sufficient grounds exist for George Bush and company to be charged with and likely convicted of war crimes for kidnapping, torture, and secret prisons. I for one will not only accept our government handing them over for trial but I demand it.
I still hold out hope that “President-elect” Obama will not be sworn in (See Not So Fast! How about that citizenship “President-elect” Obama?), but regardless of whether he, McCain, or someone else takes the office of president what will they do? If asked for George Bush and company to be turned over for war crimes, will they? What if they are arrested while traveling overseas and sent to The Hague, will and how will we intervene?
I say turn them over, let them be arrested, good riddance to them all. Even further, I personally believe that the next administration should take the lead in pursuing war crimes against George Bush, Don Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzales, John Ashcroft, Doug Feith, Paul Wolfowitz, George Tenet, and anyone and everone else who ordered or carried out these heinous acts. America cannot be left sullied by the kidnapping, torture, and secret prisons that they wrought under our name.
What are your thoughts on this?
